Four decades of intelligent rail systems

Otari Electronics was founded in 1981 with a single mission: improve the safety and efficiency of railway operations. That mission hasn't changed.

1981
Founded and first product released. Locolog, the forerunner to Tranzlog, was developed and subsequently sold to New Zealand Rail, STA of South Australia, Queensland Rail, and Canadian Pacific Railways.
1993
Electric Rail Fault Location System. Fitted throughout New Zealand's main trunk line, this innovative system was a finalist in the prestigious ECNZ Lord Ernest Rutherford Awards.
1994–2002
Servicetrack deployed. A computer room monitoring system representing a major advance in safety and security for corporate IT across New Zealand. Ecolight, an innovative rail lighting system, also developed in this period.
2003–
Tranzlog rollout across New Zealand. Continuously improved ever since, today's Tranzlog combines the latest in software and semiconductor technology to rank as a best-in-class locomotive event recorder and data logger.
Today
Otari Rail International. Marketing and distributing OtariRail branded products internationally, backed by Otari Electronics' design and manufacturing capability in North Canterbury, New Zealand.
